Why We Love Zenbei
Wedy here reporting the news when you need it most. Today is a different kind of article, today i'm giving you the low down on Zenbei, our favourite "bae" in Nippon Marathon.
So why do we love Zenbei I hear you cry? Well firstly along with 10% of the Japanese population he's blood type AB. Zenbei is known for being the kind, innocent and exquisite contestant but Zenbei is also known to have a spilt personality.
Speaking of split personalities do you know Zenbei has two alter ego's? One is of a retired old man and another one is of a school girl (also you'll learn more about that later).
Zenbei maybe the oldest contestant of the Nippon Marathon but that doesn't stop him being able to manage a heat seeking melon attack. I do like a man who can handle his melons.
Now Wedy fans (...erm I mean Nippon Marathon fans) do I have an exclusive for you. Whilst I was in the contestants locker room looking for my *ermm* keys, I actually found a copy of this poem in Zenbei's school uniform.
It's called "私と小鳥と鈴と" (A Bell, a Bird and Me) and was written by Japanese poet, Misuzu Kaneko. It really expresses Zanbei's feelings towards birds and flying. I totally understood the philosophical meaning behind the poem...
My final thought is, however much we love Zenbei, whether we like his taste in poetry or his split personality, the one thing that we all can agree on is; you can't say Zenbei without fanservice (oh and... bae).
So that’s all for now folks,
I’ve been Wedy Jones.
Keep it Real, Keep it Nippon.
