Hello everyone! 👋

So you’ve learned the basics of Nippon Marathon 2: Daijoubu! - run, trip, fall, repeat.

Now you’re ready for something juicier.

Let’s talk fruit. 🍍

You’ve heard “An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” right? Well, according to our in-house medical expert Dr. De-Jong, fruit is far more likely to launch you headfirst into the sea than save you a trip to your GP.

So let’s talk about fruit, and how to use it tactically in your quest for victory.

🍍 Nutritional Mayhem: A Guide to Nippon Marathon 2’s Items

Nutritional Mayhem item guide with banana peel, melon, mushroom, pineapple, and cucumber. Text details item effects. Blue radial background.

Scattered throughout each stage are magical item spawn points that dispense an oishii (delicious) selection of fruit — and the occasional very smelly mushroom. 🍄

Once you pick one up, you’ve got two options:

  • Eat it for a speed boost 🏃‍♀️

  • Throw it to ruin someone’s day 😈

But be warned — not all fruit is created equal. Some will make you faster. Others... will make you infamous.

📖 Here's the Recipe:

Colorful game scene with characters jumping on floating platforms. Players' names and stats at the top. Platforms have bright, bold text. Energetic mood.

🍌 Banana Peel

  • Drop it to trip up anyone behind you

  • Leave it near a weapon spawn point to be extra cruel

  • Best used right after a big jump... for maximum impact

🍉 Heat-Seeking Melon

  • The Blue Shell of Nippon Marathon 2

  • Targets the player in first place

  • High impact explosion sends anyone and everyone flying

  • Beware, it can hurt spectators which is damaging to your popularity!

  • Extra satisfying when it hits just before a checkpoint

Game characters traverse an obstacle course over water, surrounded by cheering crowd and colorful banners. Score indicators top the screen.

🍍 Pineapple Balloon

  • Allows you to float in the air for about 7 seconds

  • Great for cheeky shortcuts and gliding safely over obstacles

  • Surprisingly graceful... until you slam into a lamppost

Four characters in vibrant outfits battle on a street, surrounded by glowing pink circles. Health bars and names are above them.

🍄 Smelly Mushroom

  • Emits a trail of toxic stink clouds 💨

  • Drains stamina and popularity from anyone behind you

  • Hold it too long, and you’ll be coughing too

  • While coughing, you can’t use weapons — which makes you an easy target

🥒 Whirling Cucumber (New item for Nippon Marathon 2)

  • Channels your inner Link with a powerful short-range attack

  • Can take out multiple opponents in one swing

  • Perfect on narrow platforms and precarious ledges

  • Cucumber based vengeance is the ultimate satisfaction
